Hana Yori Dumplings (Dumplings over flowers)

The sakura blossoms in Japan are incredibly breathtaking. There are a couple of areas in Iwate prefecture where the sakura blossoms bloom beautifully.
This is where you can see the Iwate mountain right by the lakeside. The locals come to this area craving for a mini break.
There’s a saying in Japan that goes “Hana Yori Dango†meaning dumplings over flowers.
The core meaning shines light on how we focus more on the practicality over traditions, and the substance rather than its exterior.
The sakura soft serve while gazing at the beautiful Sakura is quite the match made in heaven.

Shooting the strangely peculiar firefly squid

Apparently Japan’s got a number of bioluminescent creatures.
Today, we headed over to the Japan Sea to go shoot the firefly squid – also known seasonal to spring.
We used SONY’sα7S for the shoot, which has an ISO that goes all the way up to 406000.
After we were done shooting the blindingly sparkly firefly squids, we obviously had to stuff them in our stomachs.

How does it taste?!

We went out to do a coverage on “Orbi,” a museum that offers a supercharged nature experience. It was filled with exciting exhibitions and theaters, but the thing that blew my mind was the “Blue Burger.” It had been made to look like a globe and it’s outstandingly blue.

The buns were steamed, and to much surprise, they hadn’t used any food coloring to make it look blue! Seaweed had apparently done the trick. Aside from whether it looked tasty or not, let’s just say the taste was quite simple. Beware though, your tongue and teeth are going to turn blue after feasting on this globe burger.
